Behind the Scenes of "Bruised" Music Video
We recently had the opportunity to shoot the music video for “Bruised” by Save Us — an intense, emotional track that called for a stripped-down, raw visual approach. Save Us is a newer band, so we had to work around budget constraints. We elected to shoot the entire video with just one light, in an all-black studio, creating a stark and moody atmosphere that matched the tone of the song. With just two actors and a small, tight-knit crew, we focused on performance, emotion, and simplicity — letting the story breathe without distraction. Every light, shadow, and movement was deliberate. The minimal setup gave the video a sense of intimacy and tension — the feeling of being trapped inside the song’s emotional space. What we lacked in scale, we made up for in focus and collaboration. Everyone on set gave everything they had to make something that felt honest, heavy, and human. We shot this on Sony FX3 with G Master glass and a RED Komodo 6k with a DZO Film Zoom Lens. This allowed us to move fast, since we had to get everything shot in one 10 hour day.
